Approach: from Budapest - road Nr 51 - at Solt go towards Baja/Hercegszántó on road Nr 51 - at Dunapataj junction to Szelid (Szakmár/Szelidi-tó to left) - going on the road we can approach several parts of the lake (eg 3-5 km).
To the places beyond the anglers' settlement and to the back parts of the lake we should turn right on a dirt road at the end of the holiday house zone.
At first we can get to the Northern and Southern parts turning left at the Bodzás/Húsfoka junction from the long section of the road going to the lake. At the next junction Húsfoka (right) leads to the forepart of the lake, Bodzás (left) leads to distant parts. To the South and East parts we should not turn off the road but go straight the road through the holiday house zone. To the beach and the anglers' settlement at the end of the road we should go straight at the "Szakmár to right" sign.

The water winds on the former flood area of Danube belongs to the Kiskunsági National Park so it is protected. Its bed was filled up with remained water from the river. On the lake the variable depth and conditions make possible the test of numerous angling methods. The bottom is usually silty, sandy at some parts, muddy, gravely but not akadós except some sunk fish-holding, weedy waters and the edge of reeds. The deph of water can reach in some places 7 meter but on the most part it is several meter as well.
On Lake Szelid there is a wide range of opportunities. Beyond that recent period was almost only about huge carp and grass carp and giant catfish Szelid remained what it always was: exciting, natural, mixed type of angling lake. Fortunately the spread of bojlizás here was not at the expense of other methods; there is a chance for feederes, úszós, traditional fenekezős békéshalazásra, and for süllőzésre, csukázásra, harcsázásra, or for angling by boat. In winter ice-fishing is not only permitted but successful. On gravely parts usually zander and bream can come next to reed carp, keszegek can be caught, the edge of weed is classical place for grass carp. Catfish are caught above deep holes and ditch, pike are caught most often at the edge of reed with small fish or with spinner in autumn. This time perch can occur as well. At the lakeside a lot of spawn fish swim and these are eaten by perch, pumpkinseed (Lepomis gibbosus), small pike. We can find here nice rudd and we can also get fish for bait from here.
